About Sanjay S. Patel, M.D., M.Sc.

I am the Clinical Chief of the Hematopathology Division, and a physician-scientist at Weill Cornell, where I combine my clinical and research skills to advance the understanding and diagnosis of hematological malignancies. I am actively involved in patient care through hematopathology diagnostics. For several years, I also directed the Multiparametric In Situ Imaging (MISI) Laboratory, a core resource that provides cutting-edge platforms for the spatial analysis of cellular microenvironments in tumor and non-tumor tissue samples. I collaborate with investigators from various disciplines and institutions to execute clinical and translational research studies using these tools.

My research interests include hematopoiesis, NPM1-mutated and other myeloid neoplasms, and the tumor microenvironment in classic Hodgkin lymphoma, for which I have published multiple papers as lead or corresponding author in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (Blood, Blood Advances, American Journal of Hematology) and received prestigious awards.

My goal is to leverage my expertise in hematopathology, immunohistochemistry, and spatial biology to provide optimal patient care and contribute to the discovery and development of novel biomarkers and therapeutic strategies for hematological diseases.
